Anichebe, Ideye may quit West Brom

The striking duo of Victor Anichebe and Brown Ideye are set to leave West Brom after the arrival of Salomon Rondon from Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Rondon signed for a club-record fee of around £12 million, but it could signal the end for Anichebe and Ideye.

Speaking in his press conference after the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, Coach Tony Pulis said: “Obviously Victor and Browny – people will look at them and think they have to now move on, but I think they’ve wanted to play more regular football anyway.

“The fact we’re bringing Salomon in – does it hasten their move from the football club? We’ll have to wait and see.”

Anichebe signed from Everton in September 2013 for a fee reported to be worth £6 million.

But, the 27-year-old has struggled to nail down a starting place and has mainly been used as an impact substitution.

In 47 West Brom appearances, Anichebe has scored nine goals, including a brace against Birmingham City in the FA Cup.

The forward has also been struck with a number of injuries during his time at the Hawthorns.

Fellow Nigerian Ideye became Albion’s record signing when he joined fro Dynamo Kiev for a reported £10 million.

However, the 26-year-old did not live up to the high expectations last season as he only scored seven goals in 30 matches in all competitions.
