The Chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Comrade Niyi Osoba, has described the incumbent government of the state, led by Governor Ibikunle Amosun, as visionless and clueless.
Speaking at the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency meeting of the partyheld at Odogbolu, Ogun State on Sunday, Osoba said presently in the state, people are suffering and are without a clue as to how the government is being run.
He said: “It is not what the incumbent governor promised that he is doing.
“Our people lives been bastardized and enslaved.
“They are worried about the level of indebtedness the present government has put the state.
“There is no employment.
“Our educational sector is suffering.
“Salaries of workers are not promptly paid.
“No development in the agricultural sector.
“The market people and our youths are not empowered.
“Labour Party is on a rescue mission and by May 2015, we shall take over the state.”
The Leader of the party in the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, said it is the duty of the Labour Party to create employment for the people and as such the party will do more in terms of employment if voted in.
Daniel criticized the incumbent government of the state, which after the Ekiti State governorship election, won by the Peoples Democratic Party, which defeated the incumbent All Progressives Congress, is planning to re-absorb the 2,000 civil servants who were employed by his administration but sacked immediately Amosun came into power.
Amosun was elected on the platform of the APC.
Daniel said: “”When we came into power in 2003, all political office holders who served under Chief Segun Osoba were paid their severance within six months in office, but the present administration in Ogun State didn’t do that.
“Immediately after Ekiti State governorship election, which their party lost, they decided to pay severance.
“Out of over 300 people, only 103 people were paid and they are now waiting for the remaining to come and prostrate for them before they collect what rightfully belongs to them.
“By the grace of God, if this government refuses to pay you, during the first week of this administration, all the money will be paid.”
Daniel noted that during his administration, the government built several stadia and decided to name the one built in Ijebu Ode after Otunba Michael Adenuga so that he will be maintaining the stadium and sponsoring the Gateway Football Club of Ogun State, but it was a surprise that when the Amosun-led government came on board, the governor changed the name of the stadium to Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium.
Daniel queried: “Why are we in a hurry to destroy sports development, which the youths of this state want?”
He said before he left office as the Governor of Ogun State, those who killed Dipo Dina has been arrested, asking why the government stopped their prosecution.
Members of the APC and PDP, took turn to decamp to the Labour Party at the meeting.
Some of those that decamped were Princess Toyin Alawiye, who decamped with her followers from APC; Dele Ogunnaike of the PDP, with her followers; and Mufutau Odusi of the APC with his followers.
