In-form Super Eagles’ striker, Sone Aluko, is close to signing a new deal with his Premier League side, Hull City, The Eagle Online has gathered.
The Nigerian has enjoyed an eye-catching start to the new campaign, shining for the Tigers, and none more so than during last Saturday’s shock 3-2 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League at St James’ Park when Aluko himself scored one of the goals of the season so far with a sensational second-half volley.
And now it is understood that the two parties have already started face-to-face negotiations about extending the highly rated Nigerian international’s stay in the north east, with Aluko’s current contract with Hull only lasting until June 30, 2014.
“We have just started talking,” said Aluko. “The focus is on games and getting fit again. I am sure it will get done. No doubt it will drag on, as negotiations do, but I am relaxed about it. It’s football so nothing would surprise you but I am sure it will get done.
“I am enjoying my football, I love the team and the stage we’re on. It is more than a dream to play on this stage and I just want to be fit and enjoy the games.
“Apart from Chelsea, who gave us a lesson, so far so good and let’s hope it continues. I didn’t enjoy Chelsea because we’re better than we showed.
“We have a good team and good players and we have shown that so far and seven points is a fair reflection of how we are playing.”
