Nigerian international and Hull City striker, Sone Aluko, has made a successful return to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
The 24-year-old, who had been sidelined since mid-October with an Achilles problem, played around an hour of the game against Notts County and came through unscathed.
Aluko’s return comes as a huge boost to the Tigers’ hopes of staying in the Premier League, on the back of the arrivals of strikers Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic last month.
It was originally hoped Aluko would have been available to face Tottenham last weekend, but City’s medical team adopted a cautious approach to his rehabilitation after seeing him suffer the same injury twice in quick succession.
The friendly at North Ferriby ended 0-0, and the frontman’s first realistic chance of a first-team recall could now come in the FA Cup fifth round tie at Brighton on February 17.
