All zones will be fairly treated under APC – Shekarau

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, on Monday said all zones in the country would be fairly treated under the new political party.
Shekarau, the ANPP presidential candidate in 2011 and former governor of Kano State, gave the assurance while fielding questions from newsmen in Kano.
He said: “Candidates who will run for elective positions during election period will be based on the nation’s geopolitical zones.
“So no region or zone will be given the chance to dominate others just for the sake of political domination.”
Shekarau maintained that none of the political parties that merged to form the APC gave conditions on how positions in the new party would be shared.
“All the parties agreed to come together in order to move the nation forward. So, no condition was given by any of the merged political parties while coming to form APC.”
According to him, the new party would do everything possible to discourage money politics.
He added: “Whoever thinks can come and usurp the people’s power and aspiration because he is a moneybag, should start rethinking about it now.
“As far as I am concerned, I do not doubt the sincerity of any of those who came together to form the APC.
“The insinuations credited to the former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, have been cleared with those of us at the Central Working Committee and we have taken him by his words.”
