The Akwa Ibom Progressives Forum, a socio political organization of people of Akwa Ibom State extraction in the South West Nigeria, has congratulated the Akwa Ibom State Governor-elect, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Governor Godswill Akpabio and Obong Bassey Albert on their victory at the recently conducted polls.
The group also admonished those who lost at the poll to accept the result as the wish of the majority of the people and join hands with the winners to move the state forward
This was contained in a statement issued at the end of its regional council meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Utibe Abasi Umoren.
The group pledged its continued support to the new administration of Emmanuel as it supported Chief Akpabio, while thanking God for the successful election in the state.
It urged all Akwa Ibom State people to join hands together to move the state forward by burying all political differences.
In his speech, the National President of the group, Pastor Godspower Umanah, noted: “The resounding victory of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, as the result shows, should be seen as the general voice and opinions of the people of Akwa Ibom State.”
Umanah advised those that are contesting the victory of the PDP in the state to have a rethink or “do that maturely by following the due process at the election petition tribunal”.
The executive members at the regional meeting were drawn from Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti States.
