The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has charged personnel of the Nigerian Air Force to increase their commitment toward ensuring improved security of lives and properties of Nigerians across the country.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Daramola said that Abubakar gave the charge at the inauguration of newly constructed 18 blocks of two bedroom accommodation for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers at the NAF Base in Kainji, Niger state.
He further quoted Abubakar as saying: “While NAF personnel have, no doubt, made immense sacrifices in the prosecution of internal security operations in some parts of the country, more was still expected of them”.
The director of public relations added that the air chief specifically stressed the need for personnel to give their all, as it was the only acceptable level of effort worthy of the support and goodwill Nigerians had bestowed on the service.
The CAS, who was represented at the inauguration of the buildings by the Chief of Administration, AVM Kingsley Lar, also urged the occupants of the bungalows to use the facilities with a high sense of care and maintenance.
He assured them that the service would continue to execute projects designed to ensure their comfort and that of their families.
According to him, the inauguration of the bungalows would go a long way toward enhancing professional performance of aircraft technicians, “who labour tirelessly, day and night, carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the Alpha Jet aircraft to keep them airworthy and combat-ready, thus providing the needed security for the country”.
Daramola said that the Air Chief urged all officers and men to continually exhibit the highest level of discipline and professionalism in the conduct of their duties.
He expressed the appreciation of NAF personnel to President Muhammadu Buhari, for his unquantifiable support to the Service.
He expressed appreciation to the host community and their traditional leaders for the cordial relationship and support enjoyed by the Air Force.
Earlier in his remarks, Sqn.- Ldr. James Bako, the Acting Commander, 407 Air Combat Training Group, lauded the relentless commitment of the current NAF leadership to providing the necessary infrastructure and facilities, which he said, had enhanced personnel’s effectiveness and efficiency.
