Agency urges government to purchase machine to identify mineral deposit locations

The Niger State Environmental Protection Agency has advised the state government to acquire X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer machines to ease the identification of mineral deposit sites in the state.‎

Lucky Barau, the General Manager of NISEPA, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Saturday.

Barau explained that the machine‎ has an x-ray instrument used in identifying mineral deposit sites, adding that it would make the task of the agency easier in identifying minerals available in the state.

He said: “The machine can also help the agency to guide and curtail indiscriminate mining in the state.”

Barau said it would enable the government to have focus on mineral locations rather than indiscriminate excavation based on guessing.‎

He added: “The advent of the machine will also improve the internally generated revenue of the state, as it can be hired to mining firms.”
