Detectives attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Adeniji Adele, Lagos State have arrested a film actor and gospel musician, Eddie Nnaji, for kidnapping a female banker.
Nnaji was also accused of engaging in armed robbery.
The FSARS operatives also arrested Osas Osaide and Patrick Udomikin.
The police said that duo connived with Nnaji and three others at large to rob and kidnap a female banker.
Nnaji has starred in five home videos: He is Frank in “The Eves”; Clement in “FridayNight”; Kunle in “Witches club”; Matthew in “Palace club”; and Danny in “Mountain high”.
The actor also disclosed that he had released two albums: “Jesus album” was released in 2008, while “Lifted high” was released this year.
According to a police source, the Commissioner of Police in charge of FSARS, Chris Ezike, received a tip-off about the incident and introduced a strategy used in fishing out the alleged criminals.
This strategy led to the rescue of the victim and arrest of the suspects.
The source said that Ezike has vowed to fish out other suspects connected with the case, no matter how long it takes.
Nnaji, 28, said that his friend, Jack, introduced him to crime.
Nnaji said he and his gang members kidnapped the female banker at Mile 2, Festac area, using toy guns.
The actor reportedly said: “We held the woman hostage for four days in an uncompleted building in Mowe area of Ogun State until we collected ransom before the police rounded us up.
“We bound her hands and feet and tied her mouth so that she would not escape or scream.”
Nnaji revealed that it was Jack who plotted the act because he alleged that the victim, Morenike, was stingy.
Narrating how the operation was carried out, Nnaji said that he and five others saw their target in a Toyota Camry car and kidnapped her.
He said that Jack moved the victim’s car to Akerele area of Surulere where they sold the vehicle for N250,000.
He added that Jack, who drove the vehicle, gave him N100,000, while he took the remaining N150,000.
He said they also collected ransom from the victim’s family, but only Jack knew the actual amount.
He said that his own share of the booty was N450,000, apart from the N100,000 from the sale of the victim’s car.
Nnaji said: “We sold the banker’s jewelry for N8,000, while we disposed her pair of shoes for N3,700.”
Osaide said Udomikin invited him to Lagos, adding that he never knew that the matter he was invited for had to do with robbery or kidnap.
Osaide, 23, confessed that the only role he played was to follow the gang to Mile 2 and also became the watchman who ensured that the woman did not escape from the den in Mowe.
He was given N350,000 for his pains.
Udomikin, 29, disclosed that his role was to provide his master’s Toyota Corolla, which they used for the operation.
He said he also drove the victim and some members of the gang to the den in Mowe.
He said his own share of the booty was N400,000.
