The absence of an interpreter on Thursday stalled the trial of a Portuguese woman, Roseangela Goncalves, charged with trafficking in two kilogrammes of cocaine.
The prosecution was to open its case but there was no interpreter for the foreigner.
The judge, Justice Saliu Saidu, therefore, adjourned the case to February 17 for substantive trial.
Saidu ordered the foreigner to still be remanded.
The foreigner was arraigned alongside a Nigerian, Christopher Olua, 38, on a two-count charge.
They had both pleaded not guilty to the charge on arraignment.
Saidu had granted Olua bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that one of the sureties must be a public officer of Grade Level 15 and above.
The judge, however, remanded the Portuguese at the Kirikiri Prisons.
During arraignment, the Prosecutor, Frank Dinneys, told the court that the accused conspired to deal on the illicit drug on July 21, 2013.
Dinneys said they were apprehended by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the arrival hall of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State.
Dinneys submitted that the accused conspired with one Ikechukwu, now at large, to import the illicit drug.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 11 (a) and 14 (b) of the NDLEA Act, 2004.
Drug trafficking attracts up to life imprisonment.
