The abductors of the Commissioner for Local Government in Bayelsa State, Serefina Otazi, have demanded N40 million as ransom for her release.
Otazi’s family member, Endurance Frank, disclosed this on Tuesday.
Frank told the News Agency of Nigeria in Yenagoa on Tuesday that the abductors had contacted the family and demanded the ransom to free their victim.
He said the family was relieved to hear from Otazi in her kidnappers’ den.
Frank appealed to the kidnappers to free her unconditionally.
Otazi was abducted on December 20 at a gunpoint in Otuoke on her way to Ewoi community in Ogbia Local Government Area for a funeral.
She had served as a commissioner for women affairs and acting chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area.
