An aspirant for House of Representatives (Aba North and South) on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, Hon. Mascot Kalu, has promised to ensure that Aba, which is the commercial hub of Abia State, regains its lost glory.
The investment banker-turned-politician made the remark on Saturday during a meeting with prominent sons and daughters of Aba at his residence.
Kalu noted that the economy of Aba if well boosted will not only promote growth and development but also reduce youth restiveness in the South East.
He said: “My parents lived in Aba all their lives and I was born and raised in the great city of Aba.
“Unfortunately, the city has lost its glory due to government’s neglect over the past seven years.
“My focus, if elected, is to draw federal and state governments’ attention to the potentials of giving Aba a befitting facelift.
“We need infrastructures that will enhance manufacturing and trading activities in the region.
“Our people deserve quality life and this can only be achieved through an effective voice at the National Assembly.
“Gone are the days of electing sleeping members, who are only interested in servicing their pockets and not the people.
“Having served in different capacities in the public and private sectors, I would bring to bear my wealth of experience in ensuring the yearning and aspirations of our people are actualized.”
Kalu while urging the electorates to vote en masse for PPA aspirants in the forthcoming elections, called on them to support the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan, having adopted him as the presidential candidate of the PPA.
