The police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned a businesswoman, Edna Udoko, 37, who allegedly beat up a woman and damaged her property worth over N1 million.
The defendant, who resides at 2C Ogunaike Street, Shangisha Magodo, Lagos State, is charged with conspiracy, assault and wilful damage.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 14, 2023, at No. 32, Olayemi Oduntayo Street, Shangisha, Lagos State.
Akeem said that the defendant and the complainant, Toyosi Adewale, disagreed over N300, and the defendant and others at large beat up the complainant and damaged her gold chain worth N900,000.
“The defendant also damaged her HP laptop valued at N210,000,” the prosecutor said.
The Chief Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until February 5 for mention.
