The Kano State Government has named a new Emir of Kano: Aminu Ado Bayero.
The new Emir, before his appointment, was the Emir of Bichi.
He is to replace Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was dethroned earlier in the day by the Kano State Government, with Abdullahi Gan duje as Governor.
The appointment, according to the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, takes immediate effect.
The dethroned Emir, according to sources, has also been forced out of the state.
He was said to have been banished to Nasarawa State.
Shortly after the announcement of his dethronement, scores of security operatives stormed the palace, following which he was said to have been forced out of the palace and the state.
