Gunmen on Friday along Keffi-Gitata road in Nasarawa state attacked the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar.
According to the Tribunal’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr Ibraheem Al-hassan, the incident occurred while the chairman and his entourage were on their way to Bauchi for official engagement.
Mr. Al-hassan in a statement said the security personnel on the entourage engaged in fierce gun battle with the bandits, killing one while others who sustained various degree of injuries escaped into the bush.
Stressing the need to beef up security around Judges, Al-hassan said “There is the temptation for some politicians whose cases are pending before the judges to be mischievous, especially as the 2015 elections draw nearer”.
He commended the security personnel attached to the chairman, saying, they “displayed rare professional excellence by overpowering the bandits’’.
