Oluwaseun Betiku, the General Manager of Rising Stars Football Club, says the Akure-based club has set a target of getting promoted this season to the Nigeria National League.
Betiku told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that the club was determined to succeed in this season’s campaign in the Nationwide League One.
He said this would be by working hard to get promoted after the 2018/2019 NLO season which would begin soon.
He said: “Our target for this year season is to get promotion into the 2019/2020 NNL, which is the same goal we all share as individuals in the club.
“We are ready to improve upon our 2017/2018 performance, at the end of which we narrowly missed the promotion ticket.’’
He disclosed that the club was set to recruit young players of the age range of 16 to 19 to reinforce the team ahead of the new season.
Betiku said the club would also focus on preparing such players for future games abroad.
He said: “This is necessary because everyone cannot play in the national team. So, some players need to travel abroad so that they will be well experienced in football.
“We all know that all foreign-based players now started from the local league here and today they are doing well.’’
Betiku also said the club would prepare well to be able to perform better than they did last season in the 2018 Aiteo Cup competition.
