Sivasspor of Turkey striker, Michael Eneramo, and SV Werder Bremen’s Joseph Akpala are on the verge of making a return to the Super Eagles line up ahead of the forthcoming Confederation Cup tournament in Brazil.
Super Eagles’ gaffer, Stephen Keshi, revealed that the strikers will be invited to fill the vacuum that was created by recuperating Spartak Moscow’s forward, Emmanuel Emenike.
Keshi said: “It is very sad that Emenike can’t make the team to the Confederation Cup. I spoke with him and he told me about the surgical operation he had a few days ago. We are definitely going to miss him at the competition.
“I would have loved to invite Anichebe (Victor) but I understand he is not ready to play for the Super Eagles now. So, we are looking at the possibilities of calling up either Mike Eneramo or Joseph Akpala to replace Emenike at the Confederation.
“Both players are good but we are going to look at the one who is most suitable to play in the new Super Eagles.”
Speaking further, the AFCON 2013 winning coach promised to make an appreciable impact at the Confederation Cup and also qualify the country for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
He said: “I have no doubt in my mind about our qualification for the World Cup because that is the ultimate in football and we won’t disappoint Nigerians in Brazil when the Confederation Cup begins. We have the players and we would ensure everyone’s hands are on deck in our quest to make the country proud once again.”
