Samson Siasia, coach of Nigeria’s Dream Team IV, has predicted that an African country can in future win the senior World Cup, if they can overcome their present difficulties.
Siasia, who spoke shortly after a 2-0 win over Denmark to qualify his team for the semifinal of the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympic Games, noted that the continent would have to deal with issues that had been stalling their progress.
He said: “I think that’s an issue we have, not just in Nigeria.
“I think it’s the case with most Africa countries.
“If African counties were better prepared, they might have a shot at the World Cup.
“But the problems are that it’s always the same thing.
“It’s not good trying to compete with having problems.
“Hopefully, we might find a way to change the way we prepare.
“Africa won’t win the World Cup, having these problems.”
