2015: We’ll defeat Delta PDP – APC

The newly-registered All Progressive Congress on Friday said there will be no hiding place for the ruling Peoples Democractic Party in the 2015 governorship election in Delta State.
The party categorically told the incumbent Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, not to squander time and effort on who succeeds him as his predecessor, Chief James Ibori, did in 2007, but to start preparing to handover to the candidate of the progressive party.
According to the party, the race to succeed Uduaghan and elect representatives into other positions would completely phase-out PDP’s alleged styles of rigging and ballot box snatching.
In a position statement co-signed by the state Acting Chairman of the party, Olorogun Tobore Isaac Ajueshi, and his Secretary, Engineer Azuka Ofili, in Asaba shortly after an enlarged meeting of the state management team, the APC said it has prepared to liberate the oil rich state from the shackles of corruption being celebrated by successive PDP governors in the state.
The party said appropriate machinery had been put in place to ward-off PDP’s propaganda machines and make the new party the only alternative party to bring succour to the people of the state.
The statement said: “The All Progressive Congress is now ready more than ever before to break the heavy yoke of oppression, exploitation, intimidation, suppression, injustice and monumental corruption, which the ruling PDP government, at all levels in Delta State, has laid on its people shoulders for over a decade of bad governance.
“We have resolved to never to allow agents of destabilization to come into the party as government sponsored individuals coming into the party only to destroy the APC in Delta State as it was done to ACN in the past.”
While the statement spelt doom for the ruling party in 2015, it said its membership is open to those that desire progress, peace, unity, development and stability of the nation, maintaining that PDP agents would be resisted from infiltrating and destroying it as it allegedly did to the defunct Action Congress and the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state.
The party alleged that the PDP, in 2010, during the re-run governorship election in the state, sponsored Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege to destabilize Chief Great Ogboru of the Democratic Peoples Party in the Delta Central Senatorial District and later plotted and financed him in 2011 on the ACN platform to weaken Ogboru’s popularity and strength across the state.
The party said before 2015, issues and challenges affecting the party, including finance, membership cards, constitution and blueprint for rapid development of the state and the country at large, would have been tackled.
While the party lauded the National Interim Team of the party for its concern to set Delta State free from those it described as “treasury looters”, it urged intending aspirants and candidates of the party to return to their wards and seek registration as members before using the name of APC to campaign.
