Thousands of youths, under the aegis of the Nigerian Youth Mandate, have declared for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election in 2015.
The group, drawn from the nine Niger Delta states, including Akwa Ibom, Ondo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Edo and Delta, made up of over 3,000 youths, have vowed to defend the President’s re-election with the last portion of their blood.
At the inauguration of its Delta State chapter, held in Sapele, headquarters of Sapele Local Government Area, the National President of the group, Comrade David Markson, noted with dexterity that Jonathan’s returning to the Presidential Villa in 2015 is not negotiable with any other region of the country.
According to Markson, every other region had it for eight years, therefore the South South region’s turn would not be an exception.
While they appealed to elders, leaders and stakeholders of other regions in the country to kindly consider the South South for the same eight years, he wondered by enemies of the country have started throwing salvoes and making uncomplimentary and divisive utterances to split the unity of the country.
The group called on all stakeholders in the country to support the choice of President Jonathan/Vice President Sambo for a 2015 ticket for equity, justice and fairness.
Hon. Felix Usih, who emerged as the Delta State Coordinator of the group, thanked the
national body for finding them worthy to lead the oil rich state’s youths and deliver them for Jonathan from this year.
Usih did not only promise that Deltans would vote en-mass for Jonathan, he described Jonathan as “God’s bountiful gift from the Niger-Delta region to Nigeria.”
He added: “President Goodluck Jonathan has since he assumed office demonstrated by deeds and
actions his determination to turn this country into a haven of peace and prosperity despite the security challenges being masterminded by some unpatriotic Nigerians.”
