2015: Group seeks support for Niger deputy governor

As plans on who to succeed the state governor in the 2015 general election begin in Niger State, a pressure group known as Niger Consensus Project, has called on the people of the state to give maximum support to the candidature of the Deputy Governor, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto.
The group’s spokesman, Aliyu Mohammed Gambo, made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Minna on Sunday.
Gambo said that Ibeto has been proven trustworthy, loyal, experienced and was a grass root politician who gave his maximum support for the success of Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu-led administration in the state.
Gambo stated that the vision of the group was to promote and mobllise the people of the 25 local government areas of the state for the 2015 governorship election, describing him as a bridge builder and patient person who is most experienced among all those who have indicated interest for the exalted position in the state.
He said: “Ibeto is the right person for the job because he has proved himself to be honest, trustworthy, loyal, who can carry out the activities of government to the next level, especially vision 20:2020.”
He noted that Ibeto has the love and support of the people of the state who can lead it to the promised land.
Ibeto therefore called on Nigerlites to give them all the support and co-operation for the actualisation of Ibeto to succeed Governor Aliyu, whom he described as a democrat and intelligent person that can differentiate between right from wrong.
He said the group was sure Aliyu would give his support to Ibeto despite the level playing ground the governor promised to provide in the race to succeed him.
The group’s coordinator in Chanchaga Local Government Area, Hajiya Mariam Yakubu, stated that going by the track record of the deputy governor, he is a people-oriented leader, a grass root man who started his politics from ward level and a worthy man loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Yakubu said: “Ibeto has never had any crack or friction or any conflict with Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu in over seven years.
“He gave the Chief Servant the maximum cooperation for the success of the present administration.
“Therefore, he has the most preferable credentials to lead the state from 2015.”
