We will not play FC Ifeanyi Ubah in ‘disputed’ stadium — Nnewi Utd

Nnewi United FC on Tuesday said it would not play its second round match against FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the Ifeanyi Ubah stadium, Nnewi/Ozubulu.
The club said in Awka that it took the decision because it did not want a repeat of the competition’s draws, which it claimed, conferred undue advantage on FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
It said it allowed them to still use their home ground for their games.
The club said the venue where FC Ifeanyi Ubah currently play its home matches was still an object of litigation.
Nnewi United called on the Anambra Football Association to change the venue of the match and avoid dragging the club to act in contempt of court.
It said: “We write to inform you that the re-conducted draws of the FA Cup drew complaints from other clubs because of the advantages it conferred on FC Ifeanyi Ubah over others.
“It enabled them to play at Beverly Hills Stadium, Nnewi.
“It is also important to remind you that the stadium where FC Ifeanyi Ubah plays remains an object of litigation between Ifeanyi Ubah and Gabriel Chukwuma, President of Nnewi United.
“There is an existing injunction restraining Gabriel Chukwuma, his agents or proxies from entering that stadium.
“We therefore, refresh your consciousness 48 hours before the match to be wary that fixing the above match venue at the controversial stadium will amount to contempt of court order.
“This tactically and automatically bars Nnewi United FC from the match venue.’’
