The Executive Committee of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has said there was no need to beg former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the crisis in the party in the state.
The executive committee, inaugurated on Thursday contrary to the directive of the National Working Committee of the party, has Engineer Bayo Dayo and Alhaji Semiu Sodipo as chairman and secretary.
The committee, in response to the directive of the NWC said it emerged through a legal and legitimate process.
It said the bid to stop its inauguration was as a result of the crisis that had pitched some members against Obasanjo.
Dayo dismissed claims about the existence of any faction within the party loyal to Obasanjo, adding that the party was one.
He said: “All those aggrieved will be reconciled.
“We cannot achieve victory without unity.
“All the local government chairmen of the party must know that this is not a child’s play.
“We have to work hard for the revival of this party.
“Obasanjo does not need begging.
“He is our father and we have nothing against him.
“It is some people who were feeding him lies about us.”
