African Champions, Super Eagles, and other top countries on the continent stand a chance to be seeded in the final Brazil 2014 qualifying ties.
The Eagle Online gathered that FIFA’s September ranking will be used to determine the seeded teams for the final round of the Africa 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
According to the procedure announced by the Fifa World Cup Local Organising Committee, the top five teams in the rankings will be seeded for the draw, which will be held on September 16 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
All the 10 winners of the ongoing second phase will advance to the final qualifying round where teams will be paired off against each other in a two-legged playoff.
The five winners of the playoff games will represent the continent at next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria currently occupies the fourth spot and are hoping to improve their ranking with the participation at the ongoing Confederations Cup in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s West Áfrican neighbours, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Mali, are placed first, second and third respectively.
