US Chamber supports Coronavirus response package

Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer, US Chamber of Commerce has issued a statement supporting the passage of a coronavirus response package by the US House of Representatives.
The statement was issued on Friday following President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration on coronavirus.
Bradley said in the statement: “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce applauds congressional leaders and the Trump administration for assembling a strong, bipartisan coronavirus response package that will provide immediate relief to American workers and their families.
“The Chamber supports providing paid sick leave to those directly impacted by a public health crisis like COVID-19 while also reimbursing small businesses for the unexpected financial burden. Further, an extension of unemployment insurance benefits will provide much needed financial relief to families across the country struggling to make ends meet.
“It is critical that Congress and the administration turn next to a package to assist impacted employers. As would be the expectation during a natural disaster, no family should face financial ruin because of a loss of income and no business should go bankrupt because of a temporary loss in revenue as a result of the coronavirus.
“The Chamber will continue to work closely with our members and state and local chambers to ensure the economic resilience of American businesses, focusing on employee support, business operations, supply chain and trade disruption, and the impact on small businesses and medium-sized enterprises. We have four task forces working through these issues now, and we expect to transmit recommendations as early as next week.”
Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Chamber has also compiled a number of resources to aid businesses of all sizes, including a coronavirus resource page, one-pager on COVID-19 Workplace Tips for Employees, one-pager with Guidance For Employers to plan and respond to COVID-19, and shareable social media graphics on how to keep families, schools, and businesses safe.
