The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association will on Saturdayhonour 13 of its members for their achievements and contributions to the development of the association.
In a statement issued by its National President, Prof. Abdulwahab Egbewole, the association said that the fifth in the series of the Honours’ day will hold in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on January 24.
Those to be honoured arere the Managing Director of Matrix Energy Limiited, Alhaji Abdulkabir Aliu; Prof. Abubakar Sanusi, the Chief Imam of OAU Muslim Community and professor of Medicine.
Others are the Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Ministry of Information; Alhaji Babatunde Busari; Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkareem, a retired Accountant-General of Kwara State; and nine Ph.D holders.
Egbewole said Alhaji Jamiu Afolayan, the Managing Director of Niger River Basin Authority, would be the chairman of the occasion, with Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN) as the Chief Host.
A lecture entitled: “Islam, Yesterday, Muslims today, what does tomorrow hold?” would be delivered by Dr. Mahfouz Adedimeji, the Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin.
Egbewole said the uniqueness of the UNIFEMGA Honours Day was that those to be honoured were carefully selected and have excelled themselves in various fields of human endeavour.
He said the two-day event would also serve as a mini-reunion of members as there would be a National Executive Committee meeting of the association on Fridaynight, to be hosted by Ali.
Since 2011 when the maiden edition of the National Honours’ Day started, 62 members had so far been honoured and rewarded for their landmark achievements and contributions to the Association.
