Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has called on Nigerians to use the unique opportunity offered by the Eid El Maulud to reflect on the security challenges currently threatening the corporate existence of the country.
In a goodwill message to mark this year’s Eid el Maulud celebration, Uduaghan urged Nigerians to particularly pray and work for the peace and unity of the country.
According to him, Nigerians should reflect on the virtues and ideals, which the prophet exemplified and taught, stressing that Nigerians must use the occasion to rededicate themselves to the ideals of nationhood.
Uduaghan therefore urged all the Muslim Ummah to pray for the restoration of peace in the country as peace was one of the major ingredients that sustains development and democracy in any society.
“I sincerely believe that we will make faster progress towards the realization of our shared vision of a strong, united and prosperous nation if our people imbibe the prophet’s lessons of peace, tolerance, honesty, selflessness, sincerity, justice, equity and peaceful co-existence with others, including fairness to all,” he stated.
He said his administration’s commitment was geared towards redirecting resources to identified priority areas, such as public infrastructure, health, education transportation and agricultural development among others.
