UAE agrees to issue Visa to Nigerians, FG lifts ban on Emirates

The United Arab Emirates has agreed to issue Visa to Nigerians.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made this known in Wednesday via his Twitter handle.

Owing to this, the Federal Government has resolved to permit one of the national carriers of the UAE, Emirates Airlines, resume commercial flights into the country.

Emirates was one of the few airlines okayed by the Federal Government to fly into and out of the country when the airports were reopened after the easing of the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19.

However, the access was withdrawn over the refusal of visa to Nigerians, an issue that predated the COVID-19 outbreak.

It followed the arrest of two Nigerians: Ramon Abass, also known as Huspuppi; and Jacob Ponle, aka Woodberry, for fraud.

Both men had since been taken to the United States of America for trial.

However, Sirika tweeted on Wednesday: “UAE has written to state that they agree to issue visas to Nigerians, consequently decision has been reached to allow Emirates to fly into Nigeria. Commencement of the Visa issuance is condition precedent. Please bear with this unusual situation.”
