Two persons: a policeman and a photographer, have died from an accident involving the convoy of the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Muhammad Idris Gobir.
According to available information as at press time on Thursday, the fatal accident occurred in the evening on Wednesday.
This was while Gobir was returning to Sokoto, the state capital, after an official trip to Sabon Birni that also involved the State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

While the deceased policeman was yet to be identified as at press time, the identity of the photographer had been established.

His name was given as Buhari Tanko.
The spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, Ahmed Rufa’i, confirmed the incident.
Rufa’i, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the deceased were both in the pilot car of Gobir, which was driven by the policeman.
He said both Tanko and the policeman died on the spot, adding: “Others who sustained injuries are already receiving treatment at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital here in Sokoto.”
