Tino Anjorin has agreed a new long-term deal to keep him at Chelsea until 2025, but it will not be signed until the country’s coronavirus lockdown is lifted.
The 18-year-old winger made his Premier League debut as a substitute in the 4-0 rout of Everton, the final Premier League game before the season was halted.
That vote of confidence from Frank Lampard was a significant boost and talks over personal terms had progressed in the past couple of weeks.
Anjorin, who has just over a year remaining on his current deal, will be the ninth academy player to agree new terms this season.
First-team regulars Mason Mount, Reece James, Fikayo Tomori and the fit-again Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all agreed extensions on top of recent debutants Billy Gilmour, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja and third-choice goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.
Leading goalscorer Tammy Abraham remains in talks over a new deal that has dragged on for several months, while the club remain engaged in negotiations with a number of other players.
Willian, Pedro, Willy Caballero and Olivier Giroud are all out of contract at the end of June.
