Justice Taiwo Taiwo had, on March 3, 2021, ordered an indefinite stay of proceedings in the trial, due to The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s alleged misconduct.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in his ruling, described the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s act in obtaining an exparte order for the freezing of bank accounts of the 4th, 5th and 6th defendants in the matter before another court as “an abuse of court process.”
Although counsel for the parties in the matter, including the defendants, were in court, Justice Taiwo was not in court.
The EFCC had on March 23 charged Oyo-Ita and eight others with 18-counts of money laundering to the tune of N570 million.
