Shekarau, who is currently representing the Kano Central Senatorial district, confirmed his defection plan even as he did not disclose the party he was defecting to while addressing a crowd of supporters at the Kano Foundation office along BUK Road.
The senator, who was elected to the upper chamber of the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dumped the party following a deep crisis.

The visit comes on the heels of the victory he secured against the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in court.
The group made the call in a petition to the APC National Chairman, Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
