An Ikeja High Court has sentenced a 51-year-old dockworker, Lekan Shonde, to death by hanging for beating his 39-year-old wife, Ronke, to death at their Egbeda, Lagos State residence.

This is coming on the heels of the killing of Ronke Shonde in the Egbeda area of Lagos State by her husband, Lekan, who was also reported to have had no job as at the time he killed his wife
Shonde, a dock worker in the Apapa area and resident of Egbeda-Idimu, a Lagos suburb, was arraigned on a one-count charge of murder
It was learnt that the decision to drag Lekan before the court was taken based on the autopsy report on Ronke
However, reliable sources told Vanguard that pathologists at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital had not been able to relate the death of the mother of two to the bruises on her face
He reported at the Rapid Response Squad office in Alausa, Ikeja, along with a friend, Sunday Chukwudi Nwaobi, who persuaded him to do so
