In an address to members of the press at the Government House, Kano on Monday, the state Governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, stated that the public officials were apparently arrested in connection with the budget amendment of 2013 of the state government, which he has already been signed into law

He said: “In the last two and a half years, we have initiated projects that have not only impacted on the lives of the people but should be of great interest to Nigerian engineers

Kwankwaso, however, assured the people of the state that “the wicked attack on the health workers” would not stop the government from its anti-polio campaigns
He said: “I will sit down with all stakeholders because there is no decision a governor can sit down and take on his own without consulting the stakeholders of the party
Mr. Kwankwaso, in his submission to the committee, headed by Dakuku Peterside, prayed that, in the interest of national unity, equity and fairness, the committee should expunge sections 116, 117 and 118 and other sections mentioned in the bill. He also added that, the major problem of the petroleum industry and indeed the nation in general is the failure to get rid of corruption in citizens private and public lives
