The Coalition of United Political Parties said it had commenced the process of selecting its consensus flagbearer for the 2019 presidential election.
It was at the meeting that Obasanjo endorsed Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, for the 2019 election
The meeting which started around 3.30 p.m lasted about two hours.
Oyinlola gave the warning on Monday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, when he spoke with newsmen.
Obasanjo said this in a letter read on his behalf by a former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at a one-day national summit on insecurity and killings in Nigeria convened by the Northern Elders Forum, Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Pan Niger Delta Forum on Wednesday in Abuja.
Oyinlola, in a resignation letter dated May 9, and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, said he resigned his appointment to attend to a greater political engagement.
The natives, under the aegis of Osun Young Professionals in Nigeria and Diaspora, while reacting to a media report on the statement credited to the former governor at the 10th coronation of the Timi of Ede, said Oyinlola lost the moral right to propose to Osun State people how they should govern their affairs, stating that he has been a part of the vicious cabal that has ruined the state and thrown her people into unfathomable prison of debts.
Obasanjo completed the membership form of the Movement and handed it over to former Governor of Osun State, Colonel Olagunsoye Oyinlola (retd), who is the National Coordinator of the group.
NGF’s Director of Competition and Secretary, Emma Ekong, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Tuesday that the Oyinlola-led board would also give priority attention to the grassroots development of golf.

It would be recalled that in April, the party was embroiled in crisis following alleged reports of disharmony between Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his deputy, Dr. Pius Odubu, over the upcoming governorship election in the state
The list was submitted to Saraki by the Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang; and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House), Alhaji Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, at 4.25pm
The Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Gani OlaOluwa, stated this in a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Describing the defection as “inglorious”, Olaoluwa said that there was the need to pray for Oyinlola as he “begins a political journey with professional liars”
Oyinlola, in a statement personally issued by him on Tuesday, said he had been following a subtle campaign in the media, including the social media, by some people suggesting that he had decided to leave the PDP for another party, describing it as false and a ploy by his political adversaries to push him out of the party
“They really worked to the answer and with great speed in their feverish ambition of getting rid of Oyinlola before the hearing of the suit filed by Baraje, Oyinlola, Sam Jaja and Kazaure at an Abuja Federal High Court, challenging the validity of illegalities committed,” Adelegan said in the statement
It will be recalled that Court of Appeal recently reinstated Oyinlola has the duly elected National Secretary of the ruling party. But, rather than complying with the court’s directive, the National Working Committee (NWC) presided over by Bamanga Tukur announced the indefinite suspension of Oyinlola alongside Abubakar Baraje, Sam Sam Jaja and Ibrahim Kazaure
In a correspondence dated November 21, 2013, addressed and forwarded to the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, and signed by Awa Kalu (SAN), representing Oyinlola and others, the counsel informed Tukur and the PDP that he had the instructions of the four officials invited to appear before the disciplinary panel next Wednesday to act on their behalf in the matter under reference
Among those invited to appear before the committee are the National Chairman and National Secretary of the nPDP, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola
Metuh said the party was not aware of the Court of Appeal judgment, which reinstated Oyinlola as the party’s National Secretary and that it had not been served with a copy of the judgment
