Sirika confirmed the development in a statement issued by James Odaudu, the ministry’s Director, Public Affairs, in Lagos on Tuesday.
Speaking at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Thursday, Sirika said all aviation preparations and COVID-19 protocols had been perfected and the airport was set for reopening.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the protest was organised under the umbrella of Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria and National Union of Air Transport Employee.
Sirika said this on Saturday in Enugu after the final round of inspection of rehabilitation works in the airport prior to the official reopening of the complex.
