Chief Dorothy Anyiam-Osigwe alongside President Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia, former President Joyce Banda of Malawi, African Union Chairperson Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and Winnie Mandela, anti-apartheid heroine and wife of former President Nelson Mandela, will be honoured with the award of ‘Living Legends’

Mandela, who died on the eve of the Final Draw of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Salvador, Brazil last week, has been remembered by world leaders from far and near and has been variously described as one of the world’s truly adorable figures

This was sequel to a motion brought by the Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and unanimously supported by 107 others on the demise of the legendary anti-apartheid crusader

‘if he got out of prison’…I interrupted him that ‘it was not if, but when…’ From that moment on, I resolved to do everything humanly possible, personally and working with my group to facilitate the release of Nelson Mandela from jail because South Africa and the world needed Mandela to be alive and released to be able to give South Africa the smooth transition it would need from an apartheid system to popular participation by all South Africans in their own governance

It also joined a call by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to “Take Action, Inspire Change” to volunteer 67 minutes to help others by volunteering in a hospital, tutoring a child, providing food for the homeless, or any other community service
