In an unanimous judgment on Friday, a five-man panel of the court, led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, held that Ali Abacha’s case was statute barred as at when it commenced in April 2004 at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

Ngwuta is standing trial on an amended 13-count charge of alleged corruption related offences, bordering on money laundering and other financial crimes.
The NJC said the decision to have the judges, including Justice John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court, return to their duties was taken at its 82nd meeting, which took place on May 31 and June 1, 2017
