Senator Abaribe gave the advice in Benin on Saturday at a news conference shortly after a meeting with the consumers and management of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company.
Funke Osibodu, the Managing Director of BEDC, told newsmen in Benin that the six outstanding TCN failed transformers have yet to be repaired.
The company’s Chief Executive, Funke Osibodu, gave the assurance during a meeting with the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.
The governor gave the order when a delegation from Ihovbor community, Uhunmwode Local Government Area led by Chief Tony Otakpolor, paid him a protest visit in Benin on Monday.
The group also condemned BEDC’s failure to honour contract agreement and unfriendly labour practices, among others.
His lawyer, G. E. Ezeuko (SAN), in a letter to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BEDC, Funke Osibodu, demanded for remedies and issued notice to commence legal proceedings.
He made the promise while addressing stakeholders at a town hall meeting of the communities on ways forward on the issue.
In a statement issued by the Convener, Olumide Akinrinlola, in Okitipupa on Sunday, the group advised its members not to be deceived by promises at a meeting scheduled by the state governor to address the situation.
The Benin Electricity Distribution Company says it has recruited no fewer than 1,400 personnel in the past four years to boost its workforce for better service delivery.
In a strongly worded petition addressed to the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for urgent intervention, the consumers under the aegis of Association of Landlords of Block VII, Phase V, Core Area, Asaba, lamented that trouble started when BEDC officials, led by Ernest, on June 8, 2017 illegally disconnected power supply to the area.
“As one of the leaders in the community, we have written several letters of appeal to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company to make sure that we have light but to no avail,” Asien said
The yet-to-be-identified victim climbed the pole at about 8pm along the Nnebisi Road in the capital town, attempting to rectify a damaged electric cable
