Jega said several security threats now characterised the electoral process, including physical attacks on INEC staff and facilities and attacks on security personnel on election duty

The commission further revealed that it has expanded the election official’s scope by integrating the past officers in the processes of elections because of their wealth of electoral experience

The Commission’s decision to embark on the exercise was sequel to the disturbing trend whereby 19 out of the elections conducted by INEC three years ago have been thrown out by the courts for non compliance with the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) among other reasons
