Organised labour on Friday commended the decision of the Federal Government to sanction trade unions that had failed to submit details of their yearly audited accounts to the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The organised labour under the auspices of the Trade Union Side of the council made the call on Tuesday following failure to reach an agreement with the government over non-implementation.
Negotiation between the Federal Government and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council on the new minimum wage has again rescheduled for September 16.
The JNPNC, which is the workers’ representative in the negotiation for the new minimum wage, said this following the position of the Federal Government that unrealistic demand from senior civil servants is delaying the implementation of the new Minimum Wage.
It is operating under the aegis of the Trade Union Side of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council; the eight Unions in the Public Services of the Federal and 36 State Governments.
He said it was regrettable that Maina, who was sacked in 2013 for about N2 billion pension funds fraud, was “smuggled back” into the Federal Civil Service by key government officials.
