Olanrewaju offered the explanation in a statement on Monday following the invasion of the school by protesting indigenes.

The Governing Council of OAU announced Bamire would be taking over from Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede as the VC of the university.
The chairman of the Council, Owelle Udoji, who made the announcement, said Bamire defeated 19 other applicants to emerge the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the university.
