Gbenga Ogunbote, the Chief Coach of Sunshine Stars, has called on soccer loving Nigerians to pray for the team as it takes on Reacretivo of Angola in the African Champions League this weekend in Luanda.
Speaking at the Murtala Muhammmed International Airport, Lagos, shortly before the team’s departure, Ogunbote said that although the team has prepared adequately well for the game, it will still need prayers.
“The element of luck is part of the game. We want Nigerians to pray for us. We have prepared well and we will surely not let Nigerians down,” he said.
The former handler of Gateway United stated further that having little or no knowledge of Angolans will not stop Sunshine from getting a good result.
“We have no information on our opponents but we should be able to study them in 20 minutes after the kick off,” he said.
Also speaking in the same vein, the Captain of the team, Godfrey Oboabona, said that the team will return home with a good result.
The Super Eagles’ defender said: “We are confident of getting either a win or draw. Our confidence is very high.”
