Former Students Leaders Forum (FSLF), Edo State chapter, has commended Governor Adams Oshiomhole over the palliatives to shore up the effects of the recent withdrawal of oil subsidy by the Federal Government.
“We want to use this medium to express our undying support for the positive action of the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to ensure the realisation of the total wellbeing of the people of this great state,” the forum said in a press statement issued in Benin City, the state capital.
While it saluted the governor for the bold move to abolish all forms of levies at the senior secondary school level and ease access to education, the forum also lauded the government’s action to effect a N15,000 and N5,000 reduction for regular and part time students respectively of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, irrespective of their state of origin.
Equally deserving of accolades, according to the forum, is the reduction by N20 from N40 the transport fares normally paid for the Comrade Bus by students in uniform.
The Forum added: “We boldly state that we support the palliative measures of the Comrade Governor. We support his policies. We support his ideas because they are not only realisable but they have become tangible because of the pragmatic steps taken by the Comrade Governor to ensure its reality.”
Reflecting on the management of the state affairs under Oshiomhole, the Forum said, “We do not want to patronise the Comrade Governor but note that in these few years of his management of the affairs of this state, there is an on-going transformation in the state. Until now this vision of development for Edo State was a pipe dream but now fast becoming a reality.”
