Soldiers are reported to have killed at least five persons during the annual hunting festival in Bassa Local Government Area of Jos, Plateau State on Sunday.
The soldiers, attached to the Special Task Force providing security in the state, reportedly shot some youths who were said to have engaged in a fight during the festival, razed a police station and also attacked them when they came to restore sanity.
The soldiers were said to have come into Bassa after the youths, who were arrested for fighting, were freed from the police station in the town and the station burnt down.
Vehicles and other properties at the police station were also vandalised by the youths.
The spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Samuel Dabai, confirmed the incident.
