Officers and men of the Joint Task Force in Maiduguri, Borno State, again on Thursday engaged members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, in a shootout in the city.
The soldiers and the members of the Boko Haram clashed at Bundun Primary School, which was the target of another bomb attack by the sect.
Indeed, a bomb reportedly went off in the school while the clash lasted.
The bomb was, in the usual fashion of the sect, made from Improvised Explosive Device.
Eight tricycles, nine vehicles, shops and other properties were razed during the shootout and the blast.
Spokesman of the JTF, Lt. Col. Hassan Ifijeh Mohammed, said in a statement: “At about 7:30 this morning (Wednesday) around Customs Bridge Area of Maiduguri, gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram detonated IED in a kiosk.
“The explosion damaged some cars in the area.
“However, no life was lost in the incident.”
Mohammed said the JTF continues to frwon strongly on people who allow their residences to be used by Boko Haram to launch attacks.
He added: “School authorities are advised to provide early information to security agencies, as severe actions will be taken against any hoodlum in the act.”
