The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six people fingered in the murder of army and naval officers.
Those arrested were two military men, three bouncers and a young lady said to be at the centre of the brawl that led to the killing of the military operatives.
The deceased officers were said to have been killed at the Apapa area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that an army officer, on Tuesday, went to a night club on Payne Crescent with his girlfriend, but the bouncers at the gate refused her entry.
They insisted that the lady, who wore a camouflage short, was not a soldier and as such should pay the gate fee.
A police sergeant, attached to Area ‘B’ Apapa Police Command, revealed thata heated argument ensued.
This attracted a naval officer.
On hearing that the woman was not a soldier, the naval officer condemned the action of even allowing her to wear the uniform.
The navy officer, who identified himself to the soldier, also insisted that the woman should pay gate fee.
His speech angered the soldier who allegedly whipped out a dagger and stabbed the navy officer to death.
The news of the killing of the officer was said to have filtered into the ears of navy personnel who raced to the scene and in turn killed the army man.
Some residents were said to have fled the area while shops were shut for fear of the attack snowballing.
When our correspondent visited the night club on Wednesday, it was locked.
A police source said the Area B Area Commander, ACP Innocent Ndubueze Anene, swiftly moved a team of policemen to the scene.
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, ASP Lelma Kolle, confirmed the story.
Kolle added that the soldier went to the club with the woman who was in camouflage short and wanted to enter, but they were barred.
He said that the intervention of the navy officer made the soldier to stab him to death.
Kolle said: “Naval personnel went to the scene and carried out jungle justice on the soldier.
“They killed him instantly.
“Police arrested two military men at the scene.
“The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.”
