Juliet Appiah, wife of the former Shooting Stars defender, Joe Appiah, has cried out for financial assistance following her husband’s ill health.
The 38- year-old woman who hails from Auchi, Edo State, told The Eagle Online that the Ghanaian born defender, who was recently sacked by his employers, Shooting Stars Sports Club, needed financial assistance.
“My husband has been on admission at the Samron Specialist Hospital, off Ring-Road, off Joyce B Road, opposite Prayer House, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, since Thursday January 19, 2012. We have spent all the money we have. He will need assistance from well-meaning idividuals to buy drugs and offset medical bills,” she said.
Mrs. Appiah alleged that her husband is being owed sign on fees before Sports Commissioner, Adedapo Lam Adesina, sacked him.
Appiah joined the the WNDC, which metarmophosised into Shooting Stars FC, in 1971 alongside Phillip Boamah, Sam Ashante, and Sam Saka Abose from Ghana.
He was voted by the Confederation of African Football as best Right full back in Africa in 1976, the year 3SC won the African Cup of Winners.
