Nollywood star, Rita Dominic, and her Hollywood counterpart, Lynn Whitefield, have been announced as the ambassadors for the Africa International Film Festival.
The announcement was made by Chioma Ude, the Executive Director and founder of Africa International Film Festival.
Ude said: “Dominic’s amazing achievement as a Nollywood actress as well as Hollywood’s Whitefield successful career, were the motives behind choosing the two stars as the festival’s Goodwill Ambassadors.
“Rita Dominic is a consummate actress and indeed an African screen icon, having won several awards and nominations throughout her career, most recently as Africa’s Best Actress by winning the 2012 Africa Movies Academy Award for her role in the Kenyan film, Shattered.”
She also has won the Nollywood Movie Award, the Nigeria Entertainment Award and City people’s Face of Nollywood Awards, with over 100 films to her credit.
Dominic has played a pivotal role in showcasing Nigeria’s cinema, better known as Nollywood.
However, Whitefield is a natural choice as AFRIFF Goodwill Ambassador not just for her accomplishment in Hollywood, but also because of her passionate support for the project since the inception.
She was spotted with AFRIFF team at the BEAT FM radio station a few days ago as the team began awareness campaign for the festival.
