The Police Service Commission on Wednesday announced the promotion of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police and 1,402 other senior officers.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Ferdinand Ekpe, the commission’s Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, in Abuja.
According to the statement, the benefiting AIG is Adeola Adeleke.
It said that others included six Deputy Commissioners of Police, who were promoted to Commissioners of Police.
They are Abdul Bube, Abubakar Marafa, Dan Bature, Karma Hassan, Augustine Evbakhabokun and Esosa Amadasun.
The statement also listed seven Assistant Commissioners of Police, who were elevated to DCs.
They are Felix Gani, Ibrahim Umar, Joseph Mukan, Wakili Mohammed, Awunah Donald, Mohammed Jimoh and Yahi Kwajima.
Others are seven Chief Superintendents of Police promoted to ACPs and 242 Superintendents of Police promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police.
Also, 424 Deputy Superintendents of Police were promoted to SPs and 715 Assistants Superintendent of Police elevated to DSPs.
According to the statement, all the promotions are with effect from February 19.
The Chairman of the commission, Mike Okiro, congratulated the officers and charged them to brace up for the challenges of policing the nation.
